Each year I lead a field trip for undergraduate marine biologists from the University of Hull to the Perhentians (Malaysia).  It is not a holiday.

This involves two weeks training in the basics of scientific diving and developing a reasonable knowledge of the marine fauna in the area.  To assist with this Will Brown (co founder of Sci-Dive) and I developed a basic field guide to the area which you can download here Brown and Johnson 2015 Perhentian ID.
